Dear Lindsay,

Everyone in Urban Active is super nice and fit so obviously, everyone wants to live here. We get our work done and take pride in our accomplishments but we still know how to have fun. The spinning classes are awesome with the best instuctors ever which makes everyone fit in mind body and spirit. Our government is super chill and we are a crime free town. No where else in the World is like that! We have beautiful mountains to ride your bike or go hiking through. There are plenty of wide open spaces so you can really feel at one with nature. I think you would make a great addition to the town so you should totally come check it out!!

It’s the most dreaded time of the year… Police Duty. In other parts of the United States I think it is referred to as jury duty, but here it is 10 times worse. We actually have to be the police, not just sit in a room and listen to people talk. Even though, there is essentially no crime in Urban Active, it doesn’t mean that this is an easy activity. You have to wake up early every morning, and go put on these nasty uniforms that not even the best bodies can pull off. Everyone in our town has to rotate this dreaded chore. Twice a year for only a week. The crime rate here is like 0 where in Boston there are about 645 crimes per square mile (Neighborhood Scout). In my opinion, I think this town could regulate itself considering all the police do is direct the bikes on the streets and make sure people don’t stay in the tanning bed to long. Whoever said being tan was a bad thing? Anyway, today is my first day this year as a police woman and this week can’t end soon enough.

Some people might wonder how everyone gets along so well her in Urban Active. Well the answer is really very simple. Our demanding exercise regimen cause us all to be slightly more tired than the average criminal, therefore, no one here wants to waste their time or energy on committing crimes. We would all much rather be sleeping. Also there is nothing worse than having to deal with a petty crime when you’re on Police Duty. No one commits crimes so no one else has to deal with them. Our governmental body consists of a constitutional monarchy. Much like England’s, our king and queen don’t have any power in government and are just there to be the face of Urban Active (Barrow). This royal family gets voted on every year to give every family a fair chance to be royal. Because honestly, when everyone looks this good, everyone deserves a chance to be a princess. Don’t get me wrong, running for royal family is much like running for president in America, anyone can but only politicians will. Just like our motto says:” Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Perfection”.

Today is moving out day, and I am filled with both nervousness and excitement. Being on my own at 16 isn’t going to be easy, but I’m ready for the challenge it presents. I started packing up my room 1 month ago, and finally got to see my assigned apartment last night! It’s bigger than I imagined but it’s also lonely not knowing any of my neighbors.  Everything is happening so fast; I start my teaching job tomorrow and must have the house ready by then. My friends tell me the immediate stress is worth it, because after moving in day and the first day on the job, everything becomes a lot more relaxing and fun! With all this work that needs to be done, I can barely fit in time for the mandatory cycling class.

One of my favorite things about moving day is the togetherness everyone feels. People take time out of one of the busiest, most stressful days and help the neighbors move. In return, they receive help from others, even if they are complete strangers. Last year, I spent the entire day helping out one person after another move into their new apartment. I can only hope that I will be fortunate enough to receive the same help.

My parents are really sad that I am moving out of the house, but they knew this day would come eventually. Teens throughout the rest of the world usually move out when they are 18, but here in Urban Active, we are more mature and can be trusted to live on our own at an earlier age (Berkeley Parents Network). They plan on visiting “every chance they get,” and said they would call frequently, but hopefully they give me a little space to get my life started on my own. I have to go grocery shopping tonight for the first time, and I’m not sure I can even cook. Anyway, I better get started on the move before it gets dark. Wish me luck!

Today is the job fair-today is the day I leave school and begin my career. Walking in, I see hundreds of booths. So many options; there are lawyers, firemen, nanny’s, and plumbers. The first booth that caught my eye was the table covered in scrubs. Becoming a nurse has always been my first choice. I was so anxious to sign my first contract! But when I approached the booth, to my surprise, all of the spots for this job had been filled. I knew I should have woken up earlier! Now on to plan B. I saw my old school teacher a couple of booths down. Even if I just graduated yesterday, I still felt like I knew so much more than a student. I realized that being a teacher and making the life of a naïve kid just a little better would be pretty cool. My ex-teacher handed the contract for me to sign; I felt like I was signing the rest of my working life away. Choosing a job that educates out youth was the most important thing I could have done considering that’s how our community functions; everyone working so our cost of living stays cheap. Training starts tomorrow at 8 am! I’m so ready to begin the next chapter of my life.

We, the people of Urban Active, have declared separation from the corrupt world on the basis of equality, freedom, responsibility, justice, and community. We want to live in a community where everyone contributes to society; everyone creates their own electricity, food, and clothing. With our “fit” attitude, we will all excitedly accept the challenges of life and those that come with our cycling class every day. Fitness of mind and body are mandatory for everyone and will ensure the search for fitness, equality, and the pursuit of perfection (Kindig).
